This poster is the German issue of an American movie, The Thousand Plane Raid (aka The One Thousand Plane Raid) Directed by Boris Sagal in 1969. Loosely based on Ralph Barker's book, The Thousand Plane Raid (also published as The Thousand Plan: the Story of the First Thousand Bomber Raids on Cologne), the storyline of the film is very much modified from real events. The book is about the actual attack on Cologne, Germany in May 1942 by the Royal Air Force, but the film changed it to the American Air Force attacking an enemy aircraft factory. A low budget film, it did not do well at the box office, however the aerial sequences are said to be very exciting, using a mix of stock wartime footage and spectacular stunts by legendary Hollywood stunt pilots Frank Tallman, Paul Mantz and Don Lykins. The artwork on this poster is very dynamic, giving a sense of a very exciting scene.
Measures 23 by 33 inches (58 by 84 cm) this poster has been deacidified and linenbacked with fold lines restored.
