The curated selection of original vintage posters on this website are display condition, original, authentic posters; not reproductions. Any flaws and restorations are fully disclosed in the poster description.

Sometimes posters need a little restoration in order to be displayed. All Vintage Posters follows a meticulously researched, conservation quality linenbacking process, using the Barrow Two Bath Deacidification method (citation below), acid free Japanese masa paper and buffered wheat starch adhesive on canvas backing.

This time-consuming process involves three separate baths; two for deacidification with calcium hydroxide and calcium carbonate solutions and a third bath for cleaning/bleaching of stains (if necessary) with calcium hypochlorite.

Following that, any remaining chloramines must be removed, and then another deacidification. Missing paper is filled in with deacidified similar vintage paper.

Once the poster is cleaned and backed, it is allowed to dry. Now the restoration can begin. All inpainting of missing and damaged areas in the poster is done by hand, with artist quality watercolor paint and is reversible, a requirement for archival restoration. Fixative used to prevent smudging of the coloured art materials is acid free, non-yellowing, non-toxic, milk casein-based and is considered fully archival.

My interest in posters was sparked when I began working for a poster linen-backing and restoration company in 2014. Soon after, I was producing world class restoration work. Now an independent, I opened All Vintage Posters amidst the 2020 covid pandemic.

Having dabbled in printmaking in university while completing my fine arts degree, and having worked in a public library as a teen, I appreciate printed images, vibrant colour and intricate designs produced in the early 20th century to promote movies, music concerts, magic shows, circuses, theatre, travel, auto racing and advertising.

I love everything about posters - the texture of the paper, the printing process, the imagery, the typography, the history. Each poster is an authentic piece of history that sparks your imagination and transports you to a different time and place.
