Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1963 horror film The Birds, British quad poster. This is a rare format for this movie poster. The story is a wealthy San Francisco socialite pursues a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town that slowly takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people. Something rather unique about this film that viewers may not always pick up on is that Hitchcock purposely left out any musical score for the film. This gives an atmosphere of silence to the film which actually builds the tension and sense of something being “off”. Hitchcock was famous for being a very innovative director.
Measures 30 x 40 inches (76 x 102 cm) This poster has been linenbacked and restored. The “CERT X ADULTS ONLY” has been restored to where it had been cut out from the poster. It’s not uncommon for a ratings box to be blacked out with marker in vintage posters, or cut out, requiring restoration.
